Diagnosis of Liver Tumor Using 3D Segmentation Method for Selective Internal Radiation Therapy
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper introduces 3-D liver segmentation method for selective internal radiation treatment as the treatment for liver tumors. In treatment of liver cancer, delivering maximum radiation dose to the tumor and minimum toxicity to the surrounding healthy tissue is of great difficult in clinical practice. This can be eliminated by 3-D segmentation method for accurate calculation of functional tumor volume and anatomical volume of the liver for determination of the tumor to normal liver ratio and consequently for the calculation of the dose to the patient. It uses region growing method with threshold algorithm. 3-D liver segmentation is vital in computer assisted surgery applications such as minimal invasive surgery, tumor resection, targeted drug delivery and donor liver transplantation.

A Low-Interaction Automatic 3D Liver Segmentation Method Using Computed Tomography for Selective Internal Radiation Therapy
This study introduces a novel liver segmentation approach for estimating anatomic liver volumes towards selective internal radiation treatment (SIRT). The algorithm requires minimal human interaction since the initialization process to segment the entire liver in 3D relied on a single computed tomography (CT) slice. The algorithm integrates a localized contouring algorithm with a modified k-mea...
متن کامل3D Liver Tumor Segmentation in CT Images Using Improved Fuzzy C-Means and Graph Cuts
Three-dimensional (3D) liver tumor segmentation from Computed Tomography (CT) images is a prerequisite for computer-aided diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring of liver cancer. Despite many years of research, 3D liver tumor segmentation remains a challenging task. In this paper, an efficient semiautomatic method was proposed for liver tumor segmentation in CT volumes based on improved f...
متن کاملAutomatic Segmentation of the Gross Tumor Volume in Prostate Carcinoma Using Fuzzy Clustering in Gallium-68 PSMA PET/CT Scan
Introduction: Modern radiotherapy (RT) techniques allow a highly precise deposition of the radiation dose in tumor. So, high conformal tumor doses can be reached while sparing critical organs at risk. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in three phases. In the first phase; Fourteen patients with primary or recurrent prostate cancer receive Gallium-...

Purpose: In the current study, using different radiobiological models, tumor control probability (TCP) and normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) of radiotherapy plans were calculated for three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) of prostate cancer. Methods and Materials: 10 prostate plans were randomly selected among patients ...
متن کاملChanging Therapeutic Paradigms: Predicting mCRC Lesion Response to Selective Internal Radionuclide Therapy (SIRT) based on Critical Absorbed Dose Thresholds: A Case Study
A 65 year old male with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in the liver was referred for selective internal radionuclide therapy (SIRT) following a history of extensive systemic chemotherapy. 90Y PET imaging was performed immediately after treatment and used to confirm lesion targeting and measure individual lesion absorbed doses. Lesion dosimetry was highly predictive of eventual response in ...
